Red Pump Romance Reviews

NEW Red Pump Final2I’ve wanted to read a Rachel Gibson book for a long time, so when this one came available, I signed up as quickly as I could.

What I Love About You is a contemporary romance charged with lots of electricity. From the moment Natalie (single mom) meets Blake (ex-Navy Seal) the attraction reaches from within the pages and grabs you.

I love the way Natalie’s attraction to Blake ‘awakens’ a response that had been dormant since her divorce. She’s a dedicated mother to a wonderful little girl and puts everyone’s needs before her own. It’s about time someone came along to cheer her on and be in her corner.

Blake has demons in his own past that he’s trying to get over when he thinks he’s moved into a small town and buys a secluded property. But he just can’t resist the draw he feels toward Natalie, even if the last thing he wants is to involve himself with a woman who has a child.

The secondary star of the novel is Sparky, the puppy that gets dumped in Blake’s truck while he’s at the grocery store. ‘Sharing’ the puppy between homes gives both of them an excuse to continuously have contact with each other.

Pick up a copy of What I Love About You.  I definitely recommend it!  Lots of sizzle, wit, and moments of personal healing for both main characters. Plus a humorous/interesting set of secondary personalities that add richness to the story.

Ex-high school cheerleader Natalie Cooper could once shake her pom-poms with the best of them. But she’s paid for all that popularity—her husband’s run off with what’s left of their money and a twenty-year-old bimbo named Tiffany. Leaving Natalie to manage a photo store and having to see some pictures she, well, really shouldn’t.

Then she comes toe-to-manly chest with Blake Junger. Exiled to a remote cabin in Truly, Idaho, Blake wants nothing to do with anyone. Instead, he’s determined to struggle with his demons and win—all on his own. But the last thing he needs is Natalie distracting him with her luscious curves and breaking down the barriers of his heart.

Rachel Gibson

Rachel Gibson lives in Idaho with her husband, three kids, two cats and a dog of mysterious origin. She began her fiction career at age 16, when she ran her car into the side of a hill, retrieved the bumper, and drove to a parking lot, where she strategically scattered the car’s broken glass all about. She told her parents she’d been the victim of a hit and run and they believed her. She’s been making up stories ever since, although she gets paid better for them nowadays.

The Danger in Tempting an Earl by Sophie Barnes

Lucien Marvaine never thought he was good enough for Katherine. As the younger son of an earl, he didn’t have a title or prospects. Then fate steps in and gives him a second chance, and this new Earl of Roxbury is determined to make the beautiful Kate his own . . . one touch . . . one kiss at a time.

Katherine never thought of herself as a temptress, certainly not with Lucien. Why, she’s known him almost all her life! Yet as she waltzes in Lucien’s arms at the Kingsborough Ball, she can’t help but be drawn to him. Has he always been this hard and masculine? And where did those dimples come from? Kate is not looking for a husband . . . but how can she not surrender to Lucien’s charms when love is at stake?

It was not what she had expected him to say and the surprise caught her off guard – so much so that she failed to watch her step, the tip of her slipper catching the hem of her gown and tripping her. For one faltering second, she felt the loss of control as her balance waivered. They were half way up the stairs so a plunge would hardly be painless, but just as she feared she would surely topple backward, a strong arm reached around her waist and held her steady. Katherine’s breath caught with relief as she tilted her head back and looked up at Lucien. “Thank you,” she said. His dark brown eyes stared back at her with an intensity she found most unsettling. It was then that she realized how close he was holding her and how rapid her heart was beating against her chest. She took a breath, aware that she might be responding to him in a most inappropriate way, but then she caught herself and pushed the notion aside. Silly girl. Of course her pulse would be racing after what had just happened. To think that it had anything to do with Lucien would be ridiculous. Clearly Louise had muddled her head with all her talk of Lucien returning with the intention of courting her. And yet, when he distanced himself from her, she felt bereft.  It had felt good to be held by someone, no matter how brief it had been. “Let’s get you inside,” he said as they continued up the stairs, their arms linked so he could assist her. “I believe a refreshment will do you good.”
