Red Pump Romance Reviews

NEW Red Pump Final2What if a small piece of heart-shaped sea glass, lost between the floorboards of a small beach house cottage, could bring good luck and happiness to those who visited?

What if Diana could travel from Kansas to California and start her life over after a series of excruciatingly painful events?

What if she could find true love again?

This is the first Beach House series book that I’ve read, so I have to admit that I had a hard time keeping up with some of the characters carried over from earlier releases. But I loved the story from the very beginning and was taken in by the wonderful description and scenery the author evoked. It’s a heartfelt story about new beginnings and finding love when and where you least expect it. I laughed and I cried – couldn’t put it down. The Cottage Next Door is a perfect short read that has me picking up books 1 and 2 for my TBR pile.

I give it 4 Red Pumps!

The Cottage Next Door, a Beach House novella, by Georgia Bockoven

What should have been the best day in Diana Wagnor’s twenty-nine years easily turns into the worst when her job is downsized, she discovers her fiancé in bed with her best friend, and watches her cherished grandmother’s house burn to the ground.

Clearly it’s time to start over and get out of Topeka, Kansas, where she’s spent her whole life. But what should she do? And how does she ever trust herself in another relationship when her one indisputable skill seems to be picking the wrong man?

Diana finds her answers at the cottage next door to the beach house with the help of a tall, sculptured, soft-spoken Californian, and a heart-shaped piece of sea glass.

Red Pump Romance Reviews

NEW Red Pump Final2Victoria Alexander is one of my favorite authors. Starting with the Last Man Standing series, I’ve read almost every book she’s published. And The Daring Exploits of a Runaway Heiress did not disappoint!

After receiving a list of unfulfilled wishes from her great aunt, Lucy Merryweather takes on a journey of adventures. Some intriguing and risky; some hilariously funny. All will keep you turning the pages. The one thing she doesn’t realize is who Cameron Effington really is – private investigator, detective, reporter?

The Daring Exploits of a Runaway Heiress is the fifth book in the Millworth Manor series. I actually jumped in at #4 with The Shocking Secret of a Guest at the Wedding. But they’re all fully stand-alone.

Lucy Merryweather has inherited a fortune—and her great-aunt’s list of unfulfilled wishes. What better way to honor her memory than by accomplishing as many of them as possible? And with Lucy’s family an ocean away in New York, nothing stands in her way—if one ignores the private investigator hired to spy on her.

Yet Cameron Effington is infuriatingly difficult to ignore…

As a reporter, Cameron is always looking for a good story. An American heiress running rampant between Millworth Manor and Mayfair is the perfect subject. Not to mention captivating. And extremely kissable. And if Lucy believes he’s a detective? Well, the truth should never get in the way of a good story—or hinder delicious, impetuous passion…

Author Info

New York Times bestselling author Victoria Alexander was an award-winning television reporter until she discovered fiction was much more fun than real life. She turned to writing full time and has never looked back. Victoria grew up traveling the country as an Air Force brat and is now settled in a very old house in Omaha, Nebraska, with her husband, two allegedly grown children and two bearded collies. She firmly believes housework is a four-letter word, there are no calories in anything eaten standing up, procrastination is an art form, and it’s never too soon to panic.

Red Pump Romance Reviews

NEW Red Pump Final2One of the things I love about Collette’s writing is her total immersion into the period. Some authors tip toe around the historical elements, peppering their writing with just enough to be accurate for the critics. Collette, on the other hand, writes as if she lived it. Everything from the setting details to the smallest phrase a secondary character might say is spot-on and makes the reading experience spectacular.

If you’ve just found Collette Cameron, you’re just in time. Triumph and Treasure is the first in a brand new 6-book series called Highland Heather Romancing a Scot.

Angelina Ellsworth follows her heart, only to be jilted by a bigamist and sent away from Boston, MA to live with her aunt and uncle in England. Hiding away in the country, pretending to be widowed to excuse her pregnancy, she tries to keep scandal away from her loving family. No more romance – never marry again – one by one Angelina makes herself a set of rules to live by. But when her hero literally arrives on horseback to help her down from the tree she’s climbed, saving her from a raging bull, what’s a girl to do but fall in love with her knight?

When the Marquis of Bretheridge returns to his family estate, desperation sets in at the ruin his father left behind. The last thing he needs, while taking care of his sick mother, is an arranged marriage, to a woman he’s never met, that’s carrying another man’s child. But sometimes fate has plans we don’t understand, but have to trust, to find happiness.

You’ll have to read the book to know how all this, plus a triple rainbow and turtle-doves, all fit together. Triumph and Treasure will have you hooked! And while you’re waiting for book #2 in the series to come out in 2015, you can go back and read her original trilogy.

To avoid the scandal and disgrace, she escapes to the estate of her aunt and uncle, the Duke and Duchess of Waterford. When Angelina learns she is with child, she vows she’ll never trust a man again.

A privileged English lord.
Flynn, Earl of Luxmoore, led an enchanted life until his father committed suicide after losing everything to Waterford in a wager. Stripped of all but his title, Flynn is thrust into the role of marquis as well as provider for his disabled sister and invalid mother. Unable to pay his father’s astronomical gambling loss, Flynn must choose between social or financial ruin.

When the duke suggests he’ll forgive the debt if Flynn marries his niece, Flynn accepts the duke’s proposal. Reluctant to wed a stranger, but willing to do anything to protect her babe and escape the clutches of the madman who still pursues her, Angelina agrees to the union.

Can the earl and his Scottish lass find happiness and love in a marriage neither wanted, or is the chasm between them insurmountable?
