It’s Friday, folks!
I’m excited to have Karen Lopp here, spreading the news about her new book, Shotgun Bride. And an added bonus – she’s got a killer gluten-free recipe for Double Chocolate Brownies!
Great book AND chocolate – Makes you drool for the weekend, right?
In a wild land, full of greed, betrayal, and dangers …
…Only strength, trust, and love will survive.
Orphaned young, Kathleen Barns has struggled to survive only to end up in a New York mill, when an unexpected inheritance gives her a glimpse of freedom. But becoming the landowner of a coveted piece of land with precious water rights in New Mexico Territory threatens to destroy her only chance at love. Forced into a marriage to a man who believes she planned the shotgun wedding to gain control of his ranch, Kathleen flees into the wilderness. Yet it is her unwanted husband that keeps saving her life and threatens to steal her heart.
Mike Baca had finally reached his goal, his fighting days were far behind him now that the war was over, he owned a ranch and he was on his way home to marry the richest girl in the New Mexico Territory. A shotgun in his back had him married to a green-eyed girl who wanted his ranch! Furious with her trickery, Mike made sure she wouldn’t want to keep him. It was only after she had run, with her big-eyed gaze haunting him that he discovered she was innocent, and there was a plot on her life. Now he must race the clock and the wild badlands to try and save his wife – and convince her to stay.
Excerpt:
“Why aren’t you in bed?”
“I told you I probably couldn’t sleep. Every little noise makes me jump.”
Mike dropped his burden in the corner. He wasn’t going to be able to sleep, either, but it wasn’t because of noises. “I have a deck of cards. Want to play something?”
“I don’t want to keep you up.”
“Too late for that. What games do you know?”
A mischievous smile curled her lips upward. “Poker.”
Mike laughed and lit the lantern. “What are the stakes?”
“I don’t have anything.”
“Yes, you do.”
Suspicion exploded in her eyes. “What are you talking about?”
He shrugged. “Oh, how about another kiss?”

Thank you, Darcy. I’ve been forced to go gluten free and just couldn’t give up my chocolate deserts so I converted an old favorite. Hope you enjoy it and my book.
Both the book and the recipe sound great!
Thank you, Ella

I love them. Hope you do too. Thanks
Can’t wait to read but have to pass on the brownies. Not on the diet.
Sorry you can’t have the brownies. But I understand diets, there is so much I can’t have.
Ah, man. This makes me hungry for brownies. Good luck with the book.
They are super easy to make, and super tasty, enjoy! Thanks for the good wishes!
Yummy on the Brownies and yummy to the excerpt.

It’s been three years for me and I really missed my brownies so I did some converting and the whole family liked the outcome. Hope you do also.
