Fall, Pumpkins, and Friendship Tea
Fall is here and it’s time to get out the blankets and sweatpants, hot cocoa and spiced tea. It’s time to pack up the summer clothes and pull out the turtlenecks and sweaters, coats and gloves.
I just love a lazy Saturday morning when I wake up and the bedroom has just a hint of coolness to it, and the sheets and blankets are the perfect cocoon of warmth. Or an afternoon when I can curl up on the couch with a good book while my vegetable beef stew cooks in the crock-pot.
We’re less than two weeks away from Halloween—do you have at least one pumpkin in your front yard? Bought costumes for the kids (and yourself) for next week’s party? Have you been to the corn maze?
Or maybe you have another fall favorite, like this pumpkin facial one of my friends posted on Facebook, from the Lil Spa Room in San Antonio, Texas. Follow the link to find several facial treatment recipes you can make right at home.
One of my favorite recipes for fall is a friendship tea. Make it for yourself or put it in mason jars with a decorative top. It makes a great gift for teachers, neighbors and coworkers.
Friendship Tea
½ cup instant tea powder
1 cup sweetened lemonade powder
1 cup orange-flavored drink mix
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
½ teaspoon ground cloves
I put everything in a Tupperware bowl and shake to mix. Add 2-3 teaspoons of mixture to a coffee mug of boiling water.
I live in the Virgin Islands now, but I used to love the changing landscape, crisp weather and switching foods from light to the stews, soups and other cool weather fare.
Welcome, Ella. I visited your blog this morning. Very nice interview with Katharine Ashe. I’ll have to add her newest release to my TBR pile.
The Friendship Tea sounds like the perfect fall drink! Would love to share a cup with you, sometime! 🙂
My favorite thing about fall, are the glorious fall leaves, especially on the Maple tree. My son was born in early November and when he was little we started this thing around the time of his birthday. When the leaves started to turn and fall from the trees, we’d tell him it was the spirit of his birthday. He’ll be 24 soon, and we still say that to him and he still loves to hear it! 🙂
The Friendship Tea sounds wonderful. I’ll have to make it today.
Thanks for sharing your post and recipe.
My favorite thing about Fall I’m sure would be the turning leaves if I lived where leaves actually “turned” color…but here they don’t do that so much. I like the “crispness” in the air when Fall arrives. that is a beautiful photo of the trees in the various colors I must say.
Where are you from, Jackie?
